Summary:

  • We are a steel fabrication facility located in Saxonburg, PA. We have an opening for an experienced Fabrication Shop Foreman.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction, and under the direction of the General Manager and Quality Control;
  • Manage work in progress and maintain shop production schedule;
  • Ensure compliance with AISC, ASTM and AWS standards and according to standards of the Advantage Steel and Construction Fabrication Shop Quality Manual;
  • Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, meeting customer delivery expectations;
  • Ensure that all company and industry quality standards are maintained on all projects;
  • Assist general manager in the determination of equipment layout, workflow and assembly methods and procurement of project materials;
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement;
  • Ascertain training needs of employees and organize/assist trainer in the development and execution of training solutions;
  • Ensure welding quality meets company standards for all jobs;
  • Ensure that labor hours are properly logged and recorded each day/week/period;
  • Ensure good housekeeping of fabrication shop and related facilities;
  • Ensure and document that equipment maintenance is being completed on a regular basis;
  • Work extended hours as per job requirements. 

 Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of work experience in an AISC, ASME, API fabrication environment preferred;
  • At least 3 years of work experience of supervisory experience preferred;
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required; 2-year post-secondary in a trade-related discipline a plus;
  • Required exceptional knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel, and knowledge of AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code a plus;
  • Exceptional welding ability using processes of: SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW.
  • Exceptional knowledge of fitting, fixturing and fabrication processes;
  • Advanced knowledge of set-up and operation of fabrication equipment (i.e.: press brakes, shears, ironworkers, drill presses/magnetic drills, OFC & PAC burning equipment, etc.);
  • Ability to interpret, understand and provide instruction to employees regarding the use of welding procedure specifications (WPS);
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings;
  • Strong leadership, communication and supervisory skills, organization, problem solving and project management skills;
  • Strong knowledge of computer word-processing, spreadsheet, data entry and electronic messaging software;
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines in an efficient and profitable manner;
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.

 Physical Demands:

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Stands frequently and walks about the work areas;
  • Occasionally stretches up and across when completing daily tasks;
  • Squatting, crouching or kneeling may be required occasionally;
  • Twisting the body or neck may be required occasionally;
  • Bending is occasionally required to facilitate the lifting of items used daily;
  • Contact with skin irritants or water may occur during certain processes;
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements are required when operating machinery;
  • The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or Trade School preferred
